Photographing weddings is an amazing profession! I am invited to join couples on a wonderful day. I get to share the joy of so many special family moments. And it's so amazing when couples invite me back to share even more moments by taking maternity, baby and other portraits as their family grows. I'm so touched by it, the emotions are hard to put into words.

I have always loved the fun and creativity found in art. The best present I ever received as a child was a plastic art easel. It prompted me to spend hours practicing to be the next Picasso. Within a couple of years, I burned rolls and rolls of film as my best friend Dana modeled among the apple trees near our home. Almost two decades later, I captured a grown-up Dana at her beachside wedding. Her mother said it was meant to be since I had photographed her all her life.

I refined my love of photography at Western Michigan University by earning my Bachelors of Fine Arts degree. And, I have learned more than I could have imagined working for commercial photographers, including 3 years with Jim Powell Advertising Photography in Kalamazoo, MI.

When I am not holding my camera, I love to spend time camping with my kayak, living green, evoking my inner Martha Stewart & enjoying the beautiful, peaceful landscape that is Northern Michigan. I also donate my services to a beautiful charity, nowilaymedowntosleep.org.
